On behalf of ELINZ and the employment law community, we are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our member (and friend to many of us), Ashleigh Fechney ♾️ (Streb).

A number of you will have already heard the heartbreaking news, but we wanted to share with our wider community that we have been advised that Ashleigh has died while on holiday in Lithuania, following medical complications arising from illness.

This is devastating news. Ashleigh was only 32, and in the past five years, she made an extraordinary contribution to our profession and to those she advocated for. She had so much more ahead of her. She was so proud of her brand, Ashleigh the Advocate, and was also deep into completing further post-grad training in organisational psych to support her work with neurodivergence training in workplaces.

A number of us have been in contact with Ashleigh’s father and husband to pass on our condolences and support. We know this will come as a shock to many of our members. We will share further information as we receive it.

Take care of yourself.

Jaime Rose-Peacock,

on behalf of the ELINZ Executive Committee
