šŸ“… On 3 November 2025, the Biometric Processing Privacy Code will take effect and regulate biometric processing in New Zealand

šŸ“† After 3 November, a business or organisation that starts using a biometric system like facial recognition technology will need to comply with the rules in the Biometric Processing Privacy Code 2025. These rules will replace the generic Information Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 2020

šŸ‘ļøā€šŸ—Øļø Nine-month grace period for existing uses

āœ Businesses and organisations that are already using a biometric system before or on 3 November 20205 have nine-months additional time to bring their activities into compliance with the Code. They must make sure their biometric system complies with the rules by 3 August 2026

šŸ“š If you are thinking of implementing a biometric system,Ā I recommend that you read the comprehensive guidance on the CodeĀ to learn how to comply with these rules -Ā https://lnkd.in/gYmsaQTC
